I help women create confidence through intuitive living and wellness.
People who use oils are actually cult leaders.
It’s true, isn’t it? I mean, that’s what everyone thinks so it has to be true, right? Anti-vax moms that use plants to “cure” all things. #oillife #allnatural
Well, I’m actually here to burst your bubble. Not every essential oil advocate is a crazy middle-aged woman that carries a bag of essential oils and douses her children in them every second they get. I mean, sure there are probably people that you could think of that fits this exact image, but truth be told, most of us are just normal people going through life. We each have our own story and our own reason behind using essential oils.
Now that the truth is out and I broke all your hearts, let”s get real for a moment. Essential oils are for everyone. You’re probably thinking “wait, did I just read that right? EVERYONE??”. Yes, Everyone. Every gender, every race, every human being can use (and benefit from) essential oils.
The stereotypes that I hear regarding essential oils are really amusing. Growing up with 4 brothers definitely allowed me to get an ear full as to why essential oils are for crazy people or it’s a scam. The comments I have heard from people crack me up. Unfortunately, I am here to burst all the haters’ bubbles. Here are just a few of my favorite quotes and what I have to say to them…
This is true. (Most) essential oils smell amazing and that’s actually what draws so many people towards them BUT they actually serve a purpose. That may be hard to believe but it’s true. Pure essential oils promote health without harsh, toxic chemicals. I’m not saying they are the cure for all things, but they do serve more of a purpose than the scent they give off.
This one makes me laugh because the use of essential oils has actually been a thing since before humans even began tracking time. You’re probably thinking “wait, did I just read that right?”, yes you did. Essential oils go back to ancient Egyptians. They are just getting more attention now due to the increase in social media use, availability, and effectiveness.
I don’t know how this concept even makes sense to people but just because plants have genders doesn’t mean that essential oils know the difference. Essential oils rock but believe it or not, they can’t recognize who is using them, so they actually work just as well no matter who is using them.
You can’t eat a salad once and expect to be skinny. You can’t wait until you’re sick to take vitamins and expect them to cure you. You can’t go to a chiropractor once and never experience back pain again. Essential oils work the same. They aren’t to cure all things by using them once. It’s a lifestyle and incorporating them into your everyday routine will give you some amazing results.
I love a good salad just as much as the next girl but living an oily life does not mean you have to eat vegan, vegetarian, or follow any other diet. Not that there’s anything wrong with eating a certain way but essential oils don’t put you in this classification of what kind of diet to follow. I am (obviously) all about health and wellness but I also love a bowl of ice cream from time to time, and that is totally okay. Being an essential oil user doesn’t mean you are required to live a specific lifestyle. There aren’t any life rules that must be followed to be able to use them. Do you, I promise, it’s okay!
Mind over matter. Who cares? If they are working for someone then why does it matter how they are working? That one never made sense to me. Even though there is statistical evidence that essential oils work, why does it matter if someone feels better through the use of them? If I can convince myself that I am feeling better without the use of chemicals and hurting my body, I will definitely keep up with it.
Essential oils may not be for everyone and that’s okay. They work for me so I’m not going to stop using them. I’m not here to force people to throw out all of their cleaning supplies, medicines, and personal care items. There are still products that even I use because you can’t replace everything that you own with essential oil (although that would be an interesting project!). How about we focus on encouraging people more than putting them down. If someone is trying to make their lives healthier through essential oils, who is anyone else to put them down for that? Don’t be scared of what people are thinking, essential oils have been around for a long time, so they must be doing something right!
