I help women create confidence through intuitive living and wellness.
In the hush of a moment
A storm begins to stir
Within the depths of your being
You feel it
Every ounce of your control slips through your body
Escaping from the tips of your fingers
You try to grasp it
You hold on tight
You feel the quickening pace of your heart
The frenetic rhythm that reverberates through your chest
The world around you blurs
And every question
Every thought
And concern
Magnifies
It’s the hard that enhances the good
It’s the fine line of caution and calamity
The tendrils of fear snake through your thoughts
Whispering doubts
Casting shadows upon your confidence
They are the proverbial dark clouds on the horizon
Portending the thunderstorm of your own creation
Yet there is an inexplicable allure in this dance with fear
A fascination that draws us to the edge of our discomfort
With every faltering step you take
You move closer to the unknown
The place where courage takes over
And you root in vulnerability
It’s in this moment
That you realize that the journey is far more important than the destination
That crippling anxiety was once a heavy anchor
Now morphing into a catalyst for growth
You see that within the chaos of this life
Lies an opportunity for self-discovery
You lean in and do it scared
You take each step forward
Not knowing where you’re going
And in this journey
You unearth hidden reserves of strength
That you never knew you possessed
You learn that courage
Is not the absence of fear
But the audacity to take action in spite of it
So when faced with the hush of that moment
When the storm begins to stir
And all you desire is control
Lean in
Lean into the fear
Lean into the uncertainty
This is your opportunity to dance with the chaos
Knowing that your control was always a figment of your imagination
Embrace your vulnerability
As it was always a source of power
And never a weakness
Lean into the unknown
And do it all scared
Because this life is tough
And you are tougher
And decisions are scary
And your fear will continue creeping in
But you
You brave soul
Will not yield to its grasp
You will stand firm in the face of adversity
And you will navigate these uncharted waters
With strength in your bones
And power in your soul
Fear and anxiety are emotions that often get a bad reputation. They are the butterflies in your stomach before a big presentation, the sleepless nights before a life-altering decision, and the nagging doubts that keep you up at night. Most people try to avoid these feelings at all costs, seeking comfort and security instead. However, what if I told you that fear and anxiety could be harnessed for something greater? What if you could transform these emotions into powerful tools for personal growth and success? Anxiety and fear don’t always have to be negative, sometimes they can be be used for greatness.
I recently have had some hard decisions to make in my personal life. I’m talking two weeks of breakdowns, uncertainty, and fear taking over my very being. I was anxious, confused, and unsure of what the right decision was for me. I felt like I needed my entire life mapped out with every question answered. And, that’s not reality. Some of these questions don’t have an answer right now and the other questions, were ones I already had the answers to. They were questions that I was just too scared to ask myself and after a few good crying sessions, I allowed myself to turn inward to ask the hard things. I unraveled why fear was taking over and how to lean into it rather than shy away.
When fear grips us, it is a full-body experience. Our hearts race, pumping blood rapidly to our muscles, preparing us for action. Our breathing quickens, providing more oxygen to the brain and muscles. Muscles tense, ready to react in an instant, and our senses sharpen, heightening our awareness of our surroundings. This visceral response is known as the “fight or flight” reaction, a survival mechanism honed over millennia. It’s a symphony of physiological changes aimed at ensuring our ability to confront or escape a perceived threat. Fear’s physical manifestations serve as a reminder that our bodies are wired to respond to danger, even if that danger is more psychological than physical in the modern world.
Anxiety, on the other hand, creates a different bodily landscape. It often manifests as a persistent sense of unease, with various physical symptoms. Tension can settle in the muscles, leading to headaches, neck and back pain, and overall discomfort. The heart may palpitate irregularly, and stomach troubles like nausea or digestive issues can emerge. Shallow, rapid breathing can also become a norm, further amplifying the sense of unease. The body’s reaction to anxiety is a signal that it is on high alert, poised to respond to potential threats, real or imagined. Understanding how anxiety and fear manifest physically can help us recognize and manage these emotions more effectively, allowing us to navigate them on the path to greatness.
Fear, often viewed as an obstacle, can paradoxically become a potent catalyst for personal growth. When we confront our fears, we venture outside our comfort zones and enter the uncharted territory of the unknown. This is precisely where genuine growth and transformation happen. For example, consider the fear of public speaking, a common anxiety for many. By embracing this fear and stepping up to speak, one not only enhances their communication skills but also builds self-confidence. This process of facing fear can lead to an expansion of one’s horizons, presenting new opportunities for personal and professional development. In essence, fear compels us to break free from complacency and strive for self-improvement.
The act of confronting fear involves a willingness to take risks and accept the possibility of failure. This willingness to embrace uncertainty fosters resilience and adaptability. As we navigate our fears and encounter challenges, we develop problem-solving skills and learn to think on our feet. Fear acts as a crucible, forging our inner strength and perseverance. It teaches us that growth often lies just beyond our comfort zones, urging us to be bolder and more audacious in our pursuits. By viewing fear as a catalyst for personal and professional development, we can unlock untapped potential and find ourselves on a transformative journey toward greatness.
Anxiety, often seen as a burdensome emotion, can paradoxically serve as a powerful motivational force. Rather than succumbing to the paralyzing effects of anxiety, we can channel its energy into productive endeavors. When anxiety arises, it acts as an alarm system, alerting us to potential challenges and pushing us to prepare and act. This heightened state of awareness and unease can lead to increased motivation and focus. For instance, when faced with a critical work deadline or a competitive academic exam, the anxiety surrounding these events can push us to work harder, plan more meticulously, and stay determined to succeed. In essence, anxiety encourages us to rise to the occasion and strive for excellence.
Moreover, anxiety can be harnessed to foster personal growth and development. Instead of letting it hinder progress, we can view anxiety as a guiding force. When we experience anxiety about a specific goal or ambition, it prompts us to set meaningful targets, create action plans, and maintain discipline. By acknowledging that anxiety can be the driving force behind our achievements, we transform it from an obstacle into a stepping stone to greatness. This approach empowers us to leverage anxiety as a motivational tool, propelling us toward our goals and helping us unlock our full potential.
Doing it scared encapsulates the essence of courage. It’s the idea that you can take action even when fear is your constant companion. When you acknowledge and accept your fears rather than trying to eliminate them, you embark on a journey of remarkable self-discovery and growth. It’s a testament to your resilience and determination, an affirmation that you are willing to face uncertainty and adversity head-on. This doesn’t mean you are without fear, but that you possess the inner strength to push through it.
